OML is offering in-person training opportunities to help Ohio’s municipal leaders begin their terms prepared, informed, and connected with peers from across the state.
Newly Elected Council Seminars
OML’s Newly Elected Council Seminars are designed to prepare local leaders for the issues and responsibilities they manage as municipal officials and to assist them in navigating the successful management of their communities. These sessions provide practical guidance on governance, finance, ethics, and effective leadership, making them an excellent foundation for those new to council service.
Veteran council members and other municipal officials are also welcome to attend as a refresher or to stay current on evolving municipal issues.
Upcoming seminar dates and locations include:
- Feb. 7 – Cincinnati area
- Feb. 21 – Columbus area
- March 7 – Cleveland area
New Mayors Training
OML is also hosting a New Mayors Training on March 20 in Obetz, just outside of Columbus, in partnership with the Mayors Association of Ohio.
As the chief executives of their municipalities, Ohio’s mayors play a unique role in leading their communities. They are routinely faced with circumstances that can only be handled by the chief executive—situations that are often complex and not always easy to navigate.
In recognition of the importance of this role, the training will focus on topics specific to the duties of mayors while also providing valuable opportunities for peer networking. The seminar is designed to ensure new mayors have access to essential information and the chance to connect with fellow municipal executives from across the state.
Additional details have been emailed to OML-member communities. Registration is available on the OML website.
